Industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Thursday wrote to the home ministry asking the government to resume flight travel, metro services and tourism. FICCI also said that targeted marketing campaigns should be undertaken by the states to communicate safety measures like wearing masks, thermal check-up and restriction on the number of people at one spot.
According to experts, the tourism industry has already witnessed the loss of 20-30 million jobs and thus needs to be supported. Speaking to NDTV, chairman of the tourism council of ASSOCHAM Subhash Goyal said that the mandatory quarantine period for inter-state travel is proving to be problematic.
“Tourism will take some time to kickstart as long as the quarantine protocols are in place. I am hopeful that if the quarantine problem is removed, the industry should start limping back to normalcy,” Goyal said.
