Home India Calling Mumbai gets a new beach

Mumbai gets a new beach

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has now split the old Versova beach into two, and the southern end has been named the Andheri (W) beach. Officials pointed out that the 2.3-km beach stretches across Andheri (W) and Versova assembly constituencies. “Both legislators wanted to develop the beach. So we decided to split it. Now the portion towards the south is called Andheri (W) beach, and the remaining portion is Versova beach,” said an official. The state government had cleared the plan to beautify the beach last month.

“The plan envisions a seafront that offers water sports, restaurant, marina and the city’s first beach board walk along the shore linking Andheri and Juhu beaches. This will be the best beach in the city,” Satam said.
