As a part of the build up to the formal announcement of Air India’s first ever direct flight from Delhi to San Francisco, Visit California, in association with Air India, conducted training programmes in the cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad from November 25th – 27th, 2015. All three seminars cumulatively saw over 200 people from the Indian Travel Trade industry.
The seminars, whose objective was to create awareness about San Francisco and California, provided participants an ideal platform to find information and get educated on the Golden State of California.
Air India, the Indian national flag carrier, commenced its first-ever non -stop flights between Delhi-San Francisco from December 2, 2015. Slated to be one of the longest flights in the world, Air India will currently operate three flights services a week – Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, from Delhi, using Boeing 777 LR (long-range) aircraft. The introductory flight will be connected to other metros like Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad etc. to reach out to travelers from these cities wanting a non-stop service to the West Coast of the United States of America.
Accounting for 27.9 per cent market share of the total visitors to the US, more than 262,000 Indians visited California in 2014. These remarkable numbers demonstrate a 9.17 per cent growth in visitors over the previous year, and forecasts indicate an additional growth of 9.5 percent in 2015 and 339,000 projected arrivals by 2017. Indian visitors’ average length of stay in California is 21 days.
