Vande Bharat Express to begin before Delhi to Katra festive season

Indian Railways has some good news for those planning a religious trip to Vaishno Devi. The railways has decided to introduce Vande Bharat Express on Delhi-Katra route before the Navratras.

Railway Board Chairman, Vinod Kumar Yadav said “that the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express has completed all the required trials, and will be functional before the festival season from October. He also added that 40 more such trains will be introduced with sleeper class by 2022.”

As per the tentative schedule, the new Vande Bharat Express will leave from New Delhi at 6 AM and reach Katra station in Jammu at 2 PM. The train for its return journey from Katra will depart on the very same day at 3 PM and reach the New Delhi railway station at 11 PM.

The train fare is being expected somewhere close to Rs. 1600. For the executive chair car (ECC) class, travellers might have to pay around Rs.3000, as per news reports.

As of now, all trains take 12 or more hours to reach Katra from Delhi, but this semi-high speed train will bring down the travel to just eight hours.

The second edition of Vande Bharat Express will feature pantry and comfortable seating arrangements. It will also have bio-vacuum type toilets, GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system and WiFi connectivity, among others.
