UTPA in association with MoT organizes a workshop for tourism fraternity in Rishikesh

To generate socio-economic benefits from tourism sector in the State of Uttarakhand, it has been UTPA’s sincere endeavour to help locals in getting jobs to avoid further migration from this part of hilly area of Devbhumi.

Therefore, in our continuous efforts In promoting tourism to the State of Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand Tourism Professionals Association (Regd.), organised “Workshop on Role & Sensitization of Rafting Guides / Mountaineering Guides / Local Guides/ Tour Operators and Hoteliers” at Divine Resorts, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand in collaboration with the India Tourism Delhi, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India on 16th February, 2019.

The workshop begin with Inaugural address by UTPA’s Founder President, Shri Ravi Gosain who welcomed the participants and shared the details about the activities of UTPA. He approached the participants to share their problems with UTPA, so it can be taken forward with the higher authorities at the relevant forum. He urged other associations engaged in tourism sector in Uttrakhand to join hands for promoting Uttarakhand as an important tourism destination in India. Mr Gosain stated the need of the hour is to frame regulations and enforcing the guidelines to operate Rafting & Mountaineering activities in the state of Uttarakhand. Though he was in favour of promoting all out “Destination Uttarakhand” to generate and help locals to get maximum benefit out of it to save them moving out of Uttarakhand but at the same time he was emphatic and cautioned the participants about conserving & protecting the fragile ecological balance of Uttarakhand region.

Regional Director-North India Shri Anil Oraw addressed the gathering and detailed the various activities being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism in promoting tourism to the state of Uttarakhand. Incredible India T-Shirts of India Tourism were also distributed to all the participants on this occasion.

UTPA also invited Official from Uttarakhand Tourism, and few subject experts to deliver lectures for the benefit to the participants followed by a documentry on Adventure Tourism. The workshop followed by a Question & Answer session. Various stake holders connected with the Rafting and Mountaineering also participated in the deliberations. Since it was the first of its kind workshop organised on the subject at the Rishikesh by the UTPA & MOT, participants were seen very enthusiastic and have shown great amount of interest while interacting with the officials.

Finally, Vote of thanks was delivered by Narendra Kothiyal, Adviser of UTPA & While thanking the Guests and participants for attending the Workshop he detailed various potential of developing tourism in the state of Uttarakhand from pilgrimage to Adventure, Yoga & Mediation, Wild Life and centre for spiritual studies. He stated that having such vast potential of tourism activities in Uttarakhand travelers can easily fullfil all their desires and is, therefore becoming a dream destination for all. He, however reteriated that the Rafting & Mountaineering guides should be more responsible towards their profession as they are the eyes and ears of Uttarakhand Tourism and should act as an Ambassadors of Devbhumi. He also said that it is becoming essential now to hold guide training courses for Rafting & Mountaineering and for tourists guides in the state of Uttarakhand. He detailed the various initiative being taken by the UTPA to promote ‘Destination Uttarakhand’.

Lastly he thanked Sunil Bahuguna, Gen Secretary of UTPA for his sincere and hard work put in for successfully conducting this Workshop in such a short notice which was applauded one and all present. He summed up with the thanking of participants, and Mr. Vijay Bisht and Mr. Anil Gusain of Divine Resorts, Rishikesh for providing all logistic supports in making success of the Workshop.
