The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Silk Road Programme is a collaborative platform of 33 member states dedicated to enhance sustainable tourism development along the historic Silk Road route. India at present is not member of this programme. The Ministry of Tourism has received a communication from the UNWTO requesting for official partnership between India and the Silk Road Programme. The matter has been referred to Ministry of External Affairs.
