Tamil Nadu allots Rs 10,300 cr for tourism infrastructure development

Tamil Nadu government has allocated Rs 10,300 crore for the development of tourism infrastructure in the state with a target to attract 1.5 crore foreign tourists by 2023, Shanmughanathan, Minister for Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu, said. To achieve the target, the government has earmarked Rs 10, 300 crore for the development of infrastructure at major tourist spots in the state, Shanmuganathan said. The Stone House, constructed during the British era, would be converted into a museum at a cost of Rs 45 lakh, he said. Tamil Nadu stands first in attracting both domestic and foreign tourists in India, which is second in the world in arrival of foreign tourists, the Minister said. (Source: PTI)
