Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has flagged off four new diesel-electric multiple unit (DEMU) train services from Nowgan railway station in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh were also present on the occasion along with several senior ministers of the BJP-PDP coalition government. Prabhu said that railway is committed to improving connectivity in the state, which is vital to its well being.
“Peace in the region is the most important, new projects can function effectively only if the atmosphere is peaceful. The job opportunity for youth of the state will improve once connectivity improves,” he added. The new trains will facilitate rail travel along Banihal-Qazigund-Baramulla rail track which passes through the Pir Panjal mountain range. (Source: ANI)
