As part of the “Swachh Bharat Mission” announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India recently launched the cleanliness drive at all its Airports. The cleanliness drive was launched by the Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati; Shri V. Somasundaran, Secretary Civil Aviation, Shri G. Asok Kumar, Jt. Secretary (A), Shri Sudhir Raheja, Chairman, AAI and Shri G. K. Chaukiyal, Member (Ops.) wherein other Senior Officers of AAI also participated in the cleanliness drive.
The drive has been launched at all the airports of AAI in the country with specific and focused emphasis on 17 Airports including Airports at Amritsar, Leh, Jammu, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Bhubneshwar.
Speaking on the occasion the Hon’ble Minister said that the “Swachh Bharat” movement is a best tribute that can be given to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The Hon’ble Minister emphasized that through this drive intent is to sensitize all concerned to work towards achieving clean India as he believes once we get a clean environment productivity and efficiency would enhance as a consequence. He further emphasized that through this drive we want to drive a point to masses that for cleanliness we have no inhibitions in picking up brooms.
Hon’ble Minister informed that the entire fraternity of AAI including officers and staff will be involved in this campaign of cleanliness drive and spread awareness on importance of cleanliness and hygiene for a healthy mindset as a nation. The message was also conveyed that this drive should be sustained and not limited to mere tokenism and become intrinsic part of our day to day conduct. Hon’ble Minster stressed upon clean and safe Airports for the masses across India.
