Embassy of Slovak Republic in New Delhi in association with the Representation World organises a Destination Showcase ‘1 Lakh reasons to visit Slovakia’

With an aim to showcase the destination and its elite offerings to the travel trade fraternity and the media, a short movie aptly portraying the destination in all its grandeur was screened along with informative and intriguing speeches and presentations delivered by H.E Ivan Lancaric-Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to India, Roman Berkes-President of Slovak Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents (SACKA), Adriana Ondova and Radek Zabransky from Airport Bratislava (representing Bratislava Tourist Board as well) and Patrik Liska-Economic Diplomat (III Secretary of the Embassy).

Known for its expansive national parks, vibrant culture, historical castles and chateaux, Slovakia has caught the attention of the well-heeled Indian traveler. The Destination Showcase and Cocktail was organised to increase awareness about the destination and acknowledge the potential agents and media for their continued support to Slovakia.

The event was inaugurated by H.E Ivan Lancaric gracing the evening by highlighting the potential of Slovakia as a destination. This was followed by speeches from Roman Berkes-President SACKA, Riaz Munshi-President OTOAI and Amit Kumar Sharma- Regional Head South Asia, VFS Global.

One of the main highlights of the event was the signing of MoU between the President of SACKA, Roman Berkes and the President of OTOAI, Riaz Munshi for their collaborated efforts in promoting the destination through various forthcoming partnerships. In addition, the keynote speech by Sameer M Upadhyay, Line Producer of Bollywood movie ‘Chehhre’, which had an extensive shoot schedule in Slovakia, was another highlight of the evening.

The event witnessed an active participation from several trade partners, travel consultants, major tour operators and media. The showcase was followed by a media interaction with H.E Ivan Lancaric, Roman Berkes, and Riaz Munshi, simultaneously with the networking session between the trade guests and the delegates from Slovakia.

H.E Ivan Lancaric shared, “Last year our embassy had initiated a campaign with the intention to spread awareness of tourist attractions and opportunities to visit our beautiful country. Thanks to these activities we have already registered enormous interest of Indian visitors to Slovakia and moreover, I am very pleased that for the very first time Indian producers and Bollywood megastars Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi and many other famous Indian actors discovered beauties of Slovakia. In this regard just today, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi in cooperation with OTOAI is organizing a promo event labeled, ‘1 Lakh reasons to visit Slovakia’ to further demonstrate, that thanks to many heritage sites, lush green forests and beautiful mountains, Indian tourists can find an enormous diversity, that will fulfil the expectations even of the most demanding travelers. Therefore, I believe that the upcoming tourist season will give us the opportunity to welcome another young people looking for urban entertainment or exciting outdoor activities, as well as families wishing to spend time at the cozy mountain resorts or just those, who want to enjoy the hospitality of our country, taste the fine Slovak wines and excellent beers.’
