According to buyer selection committee sources for India Tourism Mart (ITM) 2019, around 50 travel buyers from China will participate in the second annual edition of ITM scheduled to be held in Delhi between September 23 and 25. Organised at the aegis of Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) with the support of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, ITM 2019 will have 244 international hosted buyers to meet over 200 Indian sellers in the two-day long B2B programme.
Although the target was to bring in over 300 international buyers for the second edition of ITM, the organisers could get the confirmation of only 244 buyers so far, which they attribute to strict selection process to avoid complaints like last year. “We had received 1000 applications this year, twice over the last year’s numbers,” the official said. He said that all the shortlisted buyers are fresh buyers who haven’t been to India as hosted buyers before.
“There was good interest from China. We have shortlisted about 50 Chinese buyers for ITM 2019. There are around 65 buyers from the Americas for this year’s ITM,” he said.
In order to avoid complaints from sellers, the organisers are setting up one large covered space to accommodate all the sellers under one roof, rather than multiple spaces. “We have over 200 sellers confirmed so far which is as per our expectation,” said another member of the ITM organising committee in charge of the exhibitors or sellers.
The event will be held at The Ashoka Hotel New Delhi.
