Air India signed code share agreements with Avianca, the national airlines of Colombia and Air New Zealand, both Star Alliance member airlines, on June 9, 2015 on the sidelines of the IATA Annual General Meeting in Miami, US.
With Avianca, Air India has signed a Free Flow Code Share Agreement under which Avianca would code share as a marketing carrier on Air India operated flights on the Delhi-New York-Delhi & Delhi-London-Delhi sectors. The code share with Avianca will enable Air India to reach out to the South American market, which has so far remained an untapped for Air India.
Under the agreement with Air New Zealand, Air India will place its code on Air New Zealand’s services from Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore to points in New Zealand as well as on Air New Zealand’s domestic network. Air New Zealand will place its code exclusively on Air India’s services to Delhi from Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore. In addition, Air New Zealand will gain access to six points of call in India apart from Delhi, viz Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Kochi.
